MADAKO has been commissioned to prepare the planning for the extension of Niederrhein Stadium in Oberhausen. Our concept for the extension and modernization of Rot-Weiß-Oberhausen's home ground, a traditional German football club, schedules the structural change for 2010. A pure football stadium, providing seating for 13,000 people and standing room for about 5,000 people, will be developed.

The facade and interior of a building dating back to 1973 with a total usable space of about 3.000 sqm are to be modernized during 2010. The works included constructional changes on a total area of 2000 sqm.
The premises have been raised to a pharmaceutically-satisfying level by applying GMP standards.

The conversion for the creation of conference rooms within the headquarters of RWE energy group has been completed on time on November 13, 2009. On circa 400 sqm, conference rooms for 60 people have been developed.

The conversion of a lorry depot for use as storage area, workshop and office space, has been completed. On an area of 2000 sqm, these rooms have been developed for RWE Rhein Ruhr Netzservice GmbH.
Storage spaces located in the outer zone have been designed in accordance with the requirements of the Federal Water Act (WHO).

For the sixth time, MADAKO welcomed friends and business partners of our company to the by now traditional annual reception on November 19, 2009.
Together with our "Steigerhaus housemates" - Contact GmbH and Plassmeyer GmbH - more than 200 guests enjoyed a nice evening in the gatehouse of the former Osterfeld coal mine.

MADAKO and Schlaich Bergermann und Partner take on the joint development process of a bridge crossing the Rhein-Herne Canal in Oberhausen.
The pedestrian bridge, which is based on a conceptual design by Professor Tobias Rehberger (winner of the Venice 2009 Goldener Löwe Award), will be realised within the scope of the European Capital of Culture 2010 scheme. The bridge has a total length of about 400 m.

MADAKO Ltd. Abu Dhabi and the National Group Engineering Consultations based in Al Ain have signed a contract over closer cooperation on projects in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Safaa Qarani (National Group Engineering Consultations General Manager) and Khaled Hindash (MADAKO Ltd. Abu Dhabi General Manager) signed their respective agreements in Abu Dhabi on 10 November 2008.
MADAKO Abu Dhabi and the National Group Engineering Consultations will be able to deal with large-scale projects in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain more effectively and faster through working together.

MADAKO have been commissioned to assist the project management for the Emscher Sport Park in Oberhausen and follow through the planning within the scope of the project preparation. The project on the Emscher island - stretching between the two waterways the Emscher and the Rhein-Herne Canal – will be realised on a site measuring circa 17 ha and includes the following subprojects:
- the construction of a new administrative building (70 work spaces)
- the construction of a new museum ( circa 2,100 sqm )
- the construction of a new hotel ( 300 rooms )
- the construction of a new bridge
- designing and building a “water experience”
- conversion/modernisation of the Niederrhein stadium
- ecological update of the Kaisergarten urban park
- infrastructural work
The investment amounts to circa €60m. Works are to be completed by 2010 when the Ruhr area is to become European Capital of Culture.

MADAKO has been commissioned to plan the extension of a kindergarten in Oberhausen, where both disabled and non-disabled children are being looked after. The existing building will be extended by three storeys to be able to take care for children under three years of age.

A commuter town serving circa 60,000 people will be built in Hameen, located 70 km from Abu Dhabi.
MADAKO ABU DHABI has been commissioned for the general planning and supervision of part of the development area.
The planning area to be assisted by MADAKO comprises circa 23,000 sqm and will provide housing for 5,000 people. Four complexes of buildings will be constructed with housing for workers and technicians, a restaurant seating 2,000 people, and recreational and shopping facilities.

The project “adaptation of a listed historic water tower” in Essen has been internationally recognised. After an article in the American design forum INHABITAT (http://www.inhabitat.com/2007/10/01/wasserturm-umbau-water-tower-adaptation/), the Australian magazine indesign is now also going to write about the reuse of the former water tower. Already in 2003, the building owners Michael Dahms and Arnim Koch have received a special recognition award from the “Bauherrenpreis Modernisierung” jury (link: http://www.gdw.de/download/publikationen/bauherrenpreis2003.pdf) and we are pleased to see further articles about this interesting project.
Xi’an, China
MADAKO had been commissioned to design for the city of Xi’an a concept for the master plan of a 22 sq km site. In 10-15 years, when work is complete, 200,000 people shall live and work in this area.
The planning was handled in association with our partners W+P Architects in Hanover and the Emscher-Wassertechnik in Essen.
The “Arts & Culture Centre” is the heart and starting point of construction going ahead in the project area. The harmonization between history and future in Chinese culture and engineering, as well as the peaceful coexistence of different cultures, are to become tangible in diverse museums, opera houses, concert halls and educational institutions. MADAKO is now invited to propose architectural concepts for the city centre.

By order of the Emschergenossenschaft (Emscher Association) in Essen, MADAKO is creating a conception for the development of a site in Bottrop. The objective of the concept for the construction of approx. 10 one-family houses at this site is the economic and ecological use of energy and water being state-of-the-art.

Within the scope of Project 817 (the modernisation and extension of the drainage system of Abu Dhabi), ADMAC is constructing a new building to be used for material testing and as a laboratory. MADAKO Abu Dhabi has been commissioned for the general planning.

New Co-operation Partner in Dubai
We are pleased to announce that MADAKO ABU DHABI and CIVIC DESIGN ( Dubai ) have reached an agreement to collaborate.
During a signing ceremony, JAMAL AL HABTOOR, Chairman of CIVIC DESIGN and KHALED HINDASH, General Manager of MADAKO ABU DHABI signed a corresponding agreement on 15.02.2007 in Dubai.
Now the planning of building projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi will be handled jointly by both companies.
Medium-term goal of this co-operation is to promote a close partnership for projects in the entire Middle East.
