Messestände als Planungsaufgabe
Seit ein paar Tagen ist der neu gestaltete Internetauftritt unseres Partnerunternehmens AMECKO Creative Global Services online. Das junge Unternehmen, welches in der Hauptsache in der Messebaubranche tätig ist und ebenfalls im Steigerhaus seine Heimat gefunden hat, ist seit seiner Gründung Ende 2010 richtig durchgestartet. Zahlreiche Projekte, welche bereits umgesetzt werden konnten und nun auf der Website publiziert sind, zeugen davon.

Und auf diesen Erfolg dürfen wir zurecht gemeinsam stolz sein: Als Planungsbüro von AMECKO ist MADAKO dafür zuständig, kreative Lösungen für die Standarchitektur zu finden und diese planerisch umzusetzen. Die gezeigten Konzepte stellen somit einen weiteres Tätigkeitsfeld unseres breit gefächerten Leistungsportfolios dar.
 

Neuer Glanz im Herzen Rüttenscheids
Aktuell nehmen die im Umbau begriffenen Räumlichkeiten der Stadtwerke Essen an der Witteringstraße Gestalt an: Zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt sind in zwei komplett entkernten Geschossen, in denen zukünftig auf 1000 qm neu geschaffener Bürofläche ca. 50 Mitarbeiter Platz finden sollen, die Wände gestellt, eine Kühldecke installiert, die Sanitär- und Elektroarbeiten weitestgehend abgeschlossen und die Bodenbeläge verlegt. Der akustische Ausbau, Glastrennwände und der Innenausbau verlaufen planmäßig, sodass die Nutzer zum 1. Juni die neuen Büros beziehen können. Wir freuen uns auf transparente, moderne Räume, in denen der spezielle Charakter dieses Gebäudes an der ein oder anderen Stelle bewusst ablesbar bleiben wird.

Freiheit 1
Diesen wohlklingenden "Rufnamen" trägt bei MADAKO ein aktuelles Projekt, welches wir für die RWE in der Essener Innenstadt umsetzen dürfen - hinter dieser Projektbezeichnung verbirgt sich die Adresse eines Bürogebäudes, bei dem wir uns um die Fassadensanierung und die Brandschutz-ertüchtigung kümmern.


Da denkmalpflegerische Gesichtspunkte hier eine Rolle spielen, wird die ca. 1500qm große Fassadenfläche optisch an die in die Jahre gekommene und daher erneuerungsbedürftige alte Fassade aus den Fünfzigern angelehnt sein - jedoch den neuesten Anforderungen des Wärmeschutzes entsprechen. Zudem werden im Gebäudeinneren Brandschutzwände und -türen gemäß den aktuellen Brandschutzanforderungen installiert.

Jede Menge Kabel
Am Xantener Standort der RWE Gasspeicher GmbH steht der nächste Folgeauftrag an: Es gilt, ca. einen Kilometer unterirdische Kabelkanäle zu bauen. Bereits das nun abgeschlossene Projekt "Motorregelungsgebäude" beinhaltete Teile dieses neuen Kabelnetzes, mit dessen Hilfe das Betriebsgelände infrastrukturell auf den neuesten Stand gebracht wird. MADAKO wird sich nicht nur um die Planung der Verlegetrassen kümmern, sondern auch die Ausführung begleiten.

 

Goodbye!
Personnel changes at MADAKO: After 18 years Vera Marré-Dahms withdrew as a partner from the company. The certified engineer and her husband Michael Dahms took over the architectural practice Marré of her father Theo in 1993. But now she is moving on to new career challenges. “I know that the office is in good hands with my husband and Arnim Koch and I am now looking forward to new tasks.” An official farewell was already held at the Steigerhaus reception at the beginning of November.

We say goodbye and are looking forward to the one or other flying visit to her former workplace! 
 

Family Compound
Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth
MADAKO has taken on a pleasant design task: the alteration and extension of a single-family house for a private client. It required virtually a doubling of the living area to turn the former house of a catholic cleric from the 60’s into the home for a family of five. Therefore, the cubic old building was complemented by a second building. The future residents may look forward to generous, bright rooms and much space for playing, which was achieved by varying different surfaces and heights, changing window share and above all gutting the interior. Thanks to a realistic rendering, also enjoyed by commercial clients with other projects, the owner of the building can already now get a clear idea of how the building will look like after the comprehensive alteration has been completed.
At present, the project is in the building application phase.

Calling attention
Essen
The architectural magazine CUBE always looks for interesting architectonicobjects in greater Essen to present them to a general, interested public. While browsing our website, the editors discovered the Bredeney water tower, converted by MADAKO. The magazine contacted us - and now we may be pleased with a further, two-page publication of our "pearl"!

Ready for Occupancy
The renovation works have now been completed in and around the office building of BP Europa SE at the Gelsenkirchen tank farm.

While the first two construction areas involved modernising the offices and the respective hallways, now also the new, generous and bright conference rooms and lounges are ready for occupancy.








The staircase, the kitchen and the conference area convince with interesting visual axes, transparency and openness.
The construction project is rounded out by a lighting and graphics concept adapted to the needs and the self-understanding of the user.



 

It Was Our Pleasure

In conjunction with our neighbours at Steigerhaus, CONTACT, PLASSMEIER and - joining for the first time - AMECKO GmbH, MADAKO invited clients and business partners to the annual reception at "Gecko" restaurant. The gatehouse of the former Osterfeld coal mine had likewise been the setting of our reception in previous years.


Bound by the history of the location, a genuine miner welcomed our guests - including an appropriate welcoming drink and "delicious" coal.
The celebration, which featured tasty drinks, fancy finger foods and great live music, lasted well into the night. We would like to thank all who could attend and who have made this year's Steigerhaus reception an atmospheric event!

Topping Out Ceremony
All is going to plan at our Xanten site. The two motor control buildings at the compound of RWE Gasspeicher GmbH will be ready for occupancy before winter sets in.

However, the topping out generally precedes the completion of a building and also our client did not want to lose the opportunity to thank the construction workers on this occasion. Celebrating this construction stage has a very long tradition. Topping out ceremonies have already been held since the 14th century.

Eight Times Victor
RWE Gasspeicher GmbH once more relies on the competence and experience of MADAKO. The company operates a natural gas storage facility with eight caverns around its injection and withdrawal station at its Xanten site. To enhance the plain cubes of exposed concrete, MADAKO has planned a three-dimensional lettering for the facade as well as a matching lighting element.
The project is now in the building application phase.

Challenging Structural Frames
... translates the title of the current issue of Deutsche Bauzeitung, one of the oldest and most renowned journals for architecture in Germany. We consider the mentioning of MADAKO great in that it once more highlights Oberhausen’s latest attraction, the bridge over the Rhine-Herne Canal by the Frankfurt artist Tobias Rehberger. Naturally, we are also pleased with the appreciation our work receives through this recognition.

Curtain up, it’s show time
Even if the furniture is still missing – the actual renovations in the Oberhausen Theatre’s lobby have been completed on time for the new season.

The venerable house now receives visitors in new splendour. Warm shades on the walls in combination with the new merbau parquet create a classic frame. The new wall and ceiling lights provide for an ambient atmosphere - another reason to go to the theatre again. The current programme can be found here:

Enjoying Culture
Renovations at the Oberhausen Theatre are well underway. In time for the new season the lobby will receive visitors in new splendour. Rest areas, premium new flooring and a graphical wall design have been created. Above all, the new lighting composition will put a new complexion on the 400 sqm area and provide for an atmosphere living up to the theatre’s high standards. Administration areas and the staircase will also be undergoing upgrades in design and function.

New Faces
In view of the large number of current building projects, MADAKO has taken on additional staff. Ramona Schütt is a young architect with work experience abroad. She worked for an architectural office in Rotterdam for three years. Besides her, we could also engage Darius Michalczyk as construction technician.
 

Construction progress 1 – RWE
The renovation works for RWE at Arnsberg are progressing as scheduled.
The old façade’s surface of 1,400 sqm has now been completely dismantled and been given a temporary protection against weather. Furthermore, the construction project comprises additional works. After a couple of weeks, work on the interior of four storeys of the office building will begin. On schedule, the users can look forward to newly designed offices and a new façade. The façade’s modern design will significantly lower its energy consumption.

Construction progress 2 – BP
MADAKO is modernising the administration building of BP Europa SE at its Gelsenkirchen site in three construction areas. At present works are ongoing in area 2, where the interior is being completed.
Meanwhile, the users of the first construction area have been able to move into their new offices. The hallway now provides ample storage space through ceiling-high, separately labelled, built-in cupboards and back-lit tablets for ease of use. The ceiling-high glass doors and an ambient light concept create an entirely pleasant atmosphere in the newly designed office suite.

Oberhausen Nails Its Colours to the Mast

The Rehberger Bridge over the Rhein-Herne canal receives much attention from Oberhausen citizens as well as from the local press. On June 26, its inauguration took place.
